Vihiga County whose headquarters is in Mbale is Located in the Western Region of Kenya. It boarders Nandi to the East, Kisumu County to the South, Siaya County to the West and Kakamega County to the North. It is one of the four Counties in the former Western Province. Vihiga County poverty level is 62% with a dependency ratio of 100:90. Their main economic activities is agriculture with 87.2% of the households engaging in crop farming. The population of Vihiga County is 554,622 According to 2009 National Census. The area has an annual average rainfall of between 1,800mm and 2,000 mm with an average temperature of 24 0C.
